In Jewish culture, a name is very significant.  In ancient Israel, a name spoke of someone’s character, so the names of God reveal and give us insight into who God is.

  • Elohim (Genesis 1:1): Creator God; Strength; Power.
  • El Elyon (Genesis 14): The Most High God.
  • El Shaddai (Genesis 17:1): Almighty; All-sufficient.
  • El Roi (Genesis 16:13): God Sees You & Hears You.
  • Adonai (Exodus 3:14): Lord and Master.
  • Yahweh Sitkenu (Jeremiah 23:5-6): the Lord of Righteousness.
  • Yahweh M’kaddeeshchem (Exodus 31:13): The Lord Who Sanctifies; Apart For Himself.
  • Jehovah Perazin (2 Samuel 5:20): God of Breakthrough.
  • Jehovah Sabaoth (Palm 46:10-11): the Lord of Host; The Lord of Armies.
  • Jehovah Mephalti (Psalm 18:2): The Lord My Deliverer.
  • Jehovah Nissi (Exodus 17:10-16): The Lord our banner; our victory & love.
